Debating in a Hurricane

So...when I planned our season over the summer, I was supposed to have this weekend off, but I can't say no to kids who just really want to go to a debate tournament.  So we booked flights to Harvard (our 4th tournament but our third in a row).  Turns out that there's about to be a hurricane that hits most of the Northeast and MidAtlantic this weekend.  Good thing I have good credit because I might need to buy a house.  Unlikely that the midshipmen cook as well as Tom.

I have been SO tired lately, but my body won't let me sleep more than 7 hours.  Kind of a bummer.

Tonight Tom and I are splitting up to debate with our top team, against each other.  Results should be amusing.

Ran out to Target to buy some last minute party supplies.  The checkout clerk told me I was channeling "early 80s Madonna".  Uhhhh...really?  I mean, not that it isn't a compliment and I'll take it, but I'm wearing a jean dress and spotted Converse...no ripped lace gloves or giant bow headband (or huge perm) in sight.

Today was CJ's birthday party.  Here are some pics of the party setup:

Treat table--I made the wreath and assembled the banner.  As a tradeoff, I made the cookies from a mix (though I did cut out the fondant buttons and frost the doll cookies in the back) and I bought the cake from Sams (and it was REAL good).

Party activity--I bought coloring pages off of Etsy, printed on cardstock, cut around them, and glued to a popsicle stick.  Puppets!  There were crayons, markers, and glitter glue on the table for the kids to use to decorate them.
