Party Time, Excellent!

Today was graduation day.  Usually it is approximately 1 million degrees and you hope to be wearing a bikini (or less) under your academic regalia.  I dressed in that spirit--loose dress, cardigan that I could leave in the car, open toed shoes so my feet wouldn't sweat.

Reader, it was 57 degrees out there.  I thought my toes were going to fall off.  Also, it rained throughout the entire 3 hour long ceremony.  I smelled like a wet sheep by the time it was over (the robe is wool with some purple velvet and red and blue satin on the hood, oh and a purple puffy hat for good measure).  I have no idea why they decided to have it outside, except perhaps they figured killing half the faculty via pneumonia would be a cost-saving measure?  Only the strong survive!

Obviously my hair looked this straight and shiny for approximately 4 minutes.  One of my debaters, while hugging me immediately after receiving his diploma, noted I looked like a wet dog.  In fairness, I likely smelled like one too.

This is what I wore to a graduation party last night.  Sorry for the goofy face, it had been a long day.

  1. Love both outfits! I thought that Talitha dress was Lilly Pulitzer at first glance! Isn't the anchor tank great? LOVE it! You look great.

  2. OMG, I would not have survived the 57 degress. Now that dress is how to do patchwork right, instead of the horrible things they're doing now. Love the anchor tank, gotta have that for the mids. Agree, you look great in both outfits.

  3. Thanks ladies! I miss old J Crew (I think this dress is from 2008? Got it on ebay...) but I think factory is knocking it out of the park this season, have bought a ton of things there. I think what they're doing is taking the prints we love from the Crew last season or the season before and putting them on wearable pieces (sleeves! butt-covering!) at reasonable prices. It's sad we have to go to the outlet mall for it, because that's what J Crew retail used to be.

I thought the 57 degrees would be the death of me. My (admittedly weak) joke with the mids every year at graduation is that it's rain on my face, not tears...this year I texted them to say that it was really rain on my face because I was too cold to cry.
