So I screwed up my syllabus and accidentally gave my classes the day off. We started a week earlier than we did last year and so the "No Class" on my syllabus corresponds to last year's Labor Day. Whoops! I figured I'd walk over to the classroom and see how many of them had actually read the syllabus, and not a single soul was there. I guess that means they can't claim they didn't read the syllabus later in the semester when they're bitching about the group assignment.
It's a shame to waste this outfit, but I've locked myself in my office in the hopes that no one in my department notices how ditzy I am.
The lighting in these photos is terrible...this is because I've been using my iPhone to take pictures because I'm too lazy to dig out our real camera and all the cords and craziness that go along with it. Fortunately, we're getting new phones (the Casio G'Zone Commando, perfect for my hardcore lifestyle of surviving earthquakes and hurricanes!), and our new phones have a 5.1 megapixel camera WITH FLASH. So fairly soon you will actually be able to see the stuff I'm posting as opposed to a dark and blurry blob. Hooray!
Theory Cashmere Cardigan
Nanette Lepore Dress (you can't tell but it has small beige polka dots all over it)
Vintage cherry pin
Ann Taylor Short Sleeved Corsage Cardigan
J Crew Perfect Tee
Anthropologie Licorice Lanes Skirt
Life Strides Shoes (I had a lot of walking to do yesterday and was also still a little nervous because of all the giant cracks in our building. If you're going to need to sprint away from a collapsing building, best to do it in grandma shoes.)
Posts from me this week will likely be few and far between (if at all) because CJ and I are vacationing with my parents in Hilton Head, where we are obviously getting tons of debate work done. I mean, duh.
Ok, all of you who have told me that since reading my blog, you've established a wishlist at Anthropologie, LISTEN UP!
Roxy at Effortless Anthropologie is sponsoring a giveaway of a $100 Anthropologie gift card! Woah Nelly! All you have to do is become a public follower and then comment on the giveaway post with what you'd do with the money.
So, we're headed to the beach next week from Sunday-Sunday, then when we get home BAM! School starts. So I'm trying to mentally prepare myself now so it's not a big shock.
Some people would prepare by reviewing syllabi or going back through readings. Amateurs. I'm prepping by shopping online. (Dear bosses who may be reading this, I'm just kidding, I also have actually been preparing to work.) (Apparently I am also prepping by wearing team colors--yesterday's outfit was blue and gold. GO NAVY! THE GOAT IS OLD AND...something...)
This is what makes me one of the luckiest people in the world--I truly love my job. Even when I'm in my office at 10:30 at night on a Thursday, cursing at my computer because it won't open any files.
For CJ, not me. Though I might steal it for Beat Army Spirit Week. And the USNA Debate Tournament. And, you know, whenever else I want.
Midshipman soap! Think if I buy some of this and hand it out, the mids will start smelling better? (No offense buddies, but sometimes you go a little too long between showers. I still love you though.)
Team rules. We just need to add "Trample the weak, hurdle the dead" at the bottom.
Ralph Lauren Polo Shirt (normally I'd never wear a polo with this skirt, but I misplaced my official camp polo that I thought I was supposed to wear and subbed in another black one...only to find no one else was wearing one either...)
J Crew Ruffled Jersey Cardigan
Ann Taylor Loft Autumn Roses Skirt
